I am a self-admitted Chocoholic. I love chocolate. I need chocolate. I can't live without chocolate. Lucky for me, Chocolate is my only vice. So when Anna from Hachette said she was looking for people to review a cookbook about CHOCOLATE, I jumped at the opportunity! Even though I'm a vegan. I've veganized a few of the recipes, and they've all turned out delicious. To be fair to the book, though, I thought I would ask a non-vegan, who is also an awesome baker, to tell us what she thought. So I asked my dad's wife, aka my step-mom, what she had to say. Please comment and let her know what you think of her first review!
Title: Chocolate: A Love Story
Author: Max Brenner
Chocolate: A Love Story is a cook book for chocolate lovers. It is also a book for people that love beautiful art, interesting story telling and colorful descriptions. The recipe we choose was dependable banana cupcakes. Dependable was the operative word as my thirteen year old son made the cupcakes. The recipe was easy to follow and was just as good raw as it was cooked. With a young chef, constant tasting is mandatory. The final product was a cupcake as I had never experienced, the melted chocolate chunks mixed with banana and the touch of coconut with rum were delightful. My son on the other hand did not care for the rum taste so he omitted it from the icing on his portion.
If this first recipe is reflective of the other 64 recipes this book is a must have. Enjoy! Tina Baker
A big warm thanks to Tina!
