Let's Go On Vacation

So, it may SEEM like I have abandoned Brizmus Blogs Books once again, as I haven't written in an extraordinarily long time, but I am here to let you know that I have not. I've just been preparing for and then ON VACATION!

This is where I've been hanging out for the last weekish!

And while on vacation, I did LOTS of reading, so I've got some great reviews coming up for you! Reviews to expect in the weeks to come:
A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy) by Debora Harkness
The Registry by Shannon Stoker
Insatiable by Meg Cabot
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
The Dark Heroine: Dinner with a Vampire by Abigail Gibbs

Three whole books about vampires in there - I don't know how that happened. I do know, though, that I am TOTALLY vampired out. :-) The Dark Heroine, which I have ALMOST finished, might have to fight for stars, just because it was last.

In other news, I have also joined a book club, which I am SUPER excited about! I voted on the booklist for the next year today, and we should know by next week, so I'll definitely be posting about that! Yay!

Disappearing Act

It's Sunday, and I haven't posted since, well, I don't even know when. And for that can I just say: I AM SO SORRY!!!! I really didn't mean to disappear. Everyday I kept thinking "Today I will have time to post" and then having no time AT ALL!
Being a full time student and taking a dance class and attempting to exercise regularly and maintain some semblance of a social life (YAY! I want to have a social life again - this is fabulous and still finding time to read is VERY time-consuming. Much more so than I ever could have thought.

I'm not going to stop blogging, though! I love it too much! I just won't be blogging everyday anymore. Maybe a few times a week.
I've got a huge test this upcoming Thursday, and then I am going out of town for about 10 days, so I'll probably have to disappear again when I go out of town, but I've got some reviews just waiting to be posted, so I'll try not to continue being disappeared this week.

I'm sorry I've been neglecting you all! I miss the blogging community!
If you want to know what I've been up to, that's been keeping me so busy and away from blogging, check out Brizmus Around the World, my personal blog in which I talk about the awesome time I have been having in Japan!

And be expecting some reviews from me soon!

Sunday Update

This is becoming a thing for me, that I do updates on Sundays. Maybe I'll try to keep it up. I've seen people doing "The Sunday Salon," which I gather is a sort of Sunday Update meme. Does anyone have any idea where this originated? Maybe I will try to participate.

Anyhow, my first week in in my new home went smashingly. I am SUPER psyched to be here, and I love my new town. There is so much animal life everywhere! I almost stepped on a ginormous lizard today! It was literally, like, 2 feet long. I also got a sunburn today. Oups! Guess I need to buy some sun block. Anyhow, for those of you that missed it, you can check out MY PERSONAL BLOG if you're interested on keeping up with my life in Japan. I'm doing my best to post pictures, etc. . . as often as possible. I hope you'll follow! :-)

Other than that, I hope you all had a GREAT read-a-thon weekend. I really wanted to participate, but I figured this would be a good weekend to try to get to know my new city. I did my best to read lots, though, and I did manage to read 2 1/2 books this weekend (which is normally what I read in a week), so GO ME! I also managed to find *2* book stores in which I can buy English books. I can't decide if I am psyched about this or not. As I really want to be only buying books for my kindle so as not to have a bagazillion to lug back with me. But then, BOOKS! REAL BOOKS! How can I stop myself?

That's all for now, folks! Be looking for some great reviews this upcoming week! Oh, and also, if anyone happens to want to send me VEGAN food, I'm hungry here since I can't read any of the ingredients. So let me know if you want to (:-)), and I will send you my address and love you forever and, of course, send you some fun Japanese thing in exchange.

Brizmus Blogs Books Is Back!

That's right! After a week-long hiatus, Brizmus Blogs Books is back! I made it safe and sound to Japan, I had a fabulous time in Tokyo, and now I am headed south to find my new apartment.

I know a lot of you have expressed interest in seeing pictures and hearing about my life in Japan. I invite you to follow my other blog. Right now, it's called Vegan in the Land of Frog Legs and Cheese. That will obviously be changing now that I am in Japan; I just haven't come up with a name yet. Anyhow, so if you're interested, I'll hopefully be posting lots of fun Japanese pictures there!

Now for some blogger news!
A VERY long time ago, I participated in the Big Fat Nerd Journal tour, and I totally and completely forgot to write about it here. Oops! Unfortunately, the person who had the journal after me still hasn't posted about it but I hope you'll go check out my post about my time with the Big Fat Nerd Journal.

Some of you also right remember that I was chosen as a mentee for the first month of Lenore from Presenting Lenore's International Book Blogger Mentor Program. She sent me three totally awesome books (the third of which I have just finished!!) and was there for me to answer questions throughout the entire month. Unfortunately, with the hecticness of moving to Japan, I did NOT take enough advantage of her, and I'm wishing I could do the whole thing over again. Anyhow, point being - her first post about the program is up!, and I do hope you'll go check it out!

Be looking for lots of reviews coming up in the near future!
Now I've just got to figure out how to navigate blogger in Japanese, and we're all good!

Sunday Update

Okay, so on Sunday I am leaving for Japan, I am super duper psyched!!!!
One of the things this means is that my other blog, Vegan in the Land of Frog Legs and Cheese, is going to have to change names. I haven't come up with anything interesting yet, but I've decided I want it to be a name that I will be able to keep even when I am not in Japan. Suggestions, anyone?

The other thing that this means is that I will not have access to the internet until April 5. I've got a ton of reviews of books I've been reading written up in a notebook, but I'm not sure yet if I will have time to type them up before I leave. I wouldn't mind not having a post for 5 whole days, but I've just got so many reviews written that it seems silly to have such a long hiatus. So I will do my best to type some up, but if not, well, sorry.

I also apologize in advance for the lack of comments in your blogs over the next little while. Even once I have internet, I'm pretty sure that getting settled in Japan is going to be hectic. Wish me luck!

Anyhow, that's all for now, I guess. I hope everyone is having a fabulous week, and I look forward to regular blogging again once everything gets dealt with in JAPAN!!!!

Happy reading, everyone!

NaNoWriMo and New Moon and doing the update kind of thing. . .

First, I'd like to start with a small apology about my lack of commenting lately. I've been participating in NaNoWriMo this month, and I find that it's taking a lot out of me. When I'm done writing, I just don't want to be at the computer anymore. Hopefully I'll be back to my commenting self in December, but in the mean time, I'll do my best.

And speaking of NaNoWriMo, I can't believe I haven't yet written a single thing about it. Last year, when I wasn't book blogging, I updated at least bi-weekly with a NaNoWriMo status. I guess I'm just not as excited about it this year. I started off with a great story in mind, and somehow that has turned into the non-fiction story of me. Yes, that's right - I'm writing an autobiography. I didn't mean for it to turn out this way, and I'm just not that excited about it. Especially since I had to interrupt my other WIP for it. And I am SUPER excited about my other WIP. I love my story and my characters and the dialogue and everything, and this is the first time that's ever happened.
In any case, if you're not my writing buddy yet, click on the link in my left sidebar to become my writing buddy!

Other than NaNoWriMo, I went to see New Moon again, and I made a few observations that I would like to share with you. Even though I've read a lot of other bloggers complaining that they are tired of hearing about it. You can see my original review here.
First, I watched Twilight before hand, for maybe the 18th time, and I noticed for the first time that Edward gets to be an angel for part of it. When they are sitting in the biology classroom at the beginning, there is one point where a stuffed owl/bird thing is aligned perfectly behind him so that it looks like he has wings. It was super cool.
Now, post-Twilight New Moon observations:
1)Charlie is hilarious and wonderful, and I am so glad they made him an integral part of the movies.
2)Kristen Stewart, while still regularly flitting her eyes and breathing far too heavily, quite probably got acting lessons. She is not as horrible, but she is still HORRIBLE.
3)When she is not looking high or cross-eyed, Kristen Stewart is actually quite beautiful.
4)Edward, while never a great actor, somehow got even worse. And I am very upset with whoever decided he should be mister perfectly gorgeously hot Edward. Because perfectly gorgeously hot he is not. I decided that the guy who plays Emmett should have played Edward.
5)Bella and Edward have no chemistry, and when they kiss, I feel like gagging. Bella and Jacob have so much chemistry that I just want to jump through the screen and make them kiss. Even in Twilight. Like when they were walking on the beach together. HOT! (See picture - I ADORE the jacket Bella is wearing in that picture)
6)Bella is already so pale that I have NO clue how they can make her paler when she will be a vampire.
7)Edward is going to have to mega buff up if he wants to look like the Edward vampire described in Eclipse. He should learn from Taylor Lautner and go to the gym.

Okay, I guess that's it on the New Moon front. But, um, how incredibly creeptastic is the story about the mom who asked him to sign the Team Jacob panties THAT SHE WAS WEARING. And right in front of her teenaged daughter, en plus. See the story here. It makes me feel less creepy about finding him hot.

This post is getting long, but before I go: SOME BOOK NEWS!
I've been really sick lately and going NaNoWriMo crazy, like I said, so I unfortunately haven't been reading much lately. :-( I am therefore probably be going to posting some mini reviews throughout the next couple weeks of books that I read a while ago. I hope you'll enjoy!
