Book Blogging for Japan CONTEST!

Do something for Japan, let me know what it is, and WIN A BOOK!

Left is Sendai, Japan before.
Right is Sendai, Japan now.

As many of you know, I've been living in Japan for the past year, and as such, this recent tragedy has really struck close to home for me.

As such, I've decided to host a Book Blogging for Japan CONTEST!!!! Right now, there will be 9 winners! To enter, all you have to do is help Japan. You do something to help Japan and send me an e-mail (zedster.tbb(at)gmail(dot)com) or post a comment letting me know what you did, and you're entered!

You can do something as simple as donate money, or, if you're poor like me, you can be creative.

Some EXAMPLES of things you can do:
-Thursday night I went to a meditation session where we meditated for the survivors.
-A kindergarten teacher is having her class collect marbles for when they're good. For each marble the kids earn, parents are donating a dollar.
-make a paper crane - there is a myth in Japan that for every thousand paper cranes you fold, you get a wish.

What can you win?
#1 - a box of books from me! Old books I've read, whatever fits in the box!
#2 - Hopeful Monsters: Stories by Hiromi Goto - donated by Arsenal Pulp Press!
#3-5 winners will win If You Follow Me: A Novel (P.S.) by Malena Watrous - donated by Harper Collins
#4-2 winners will receive books donated by Egmont UK.
#5-a SIGNED copy of Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

If you've never heard of these books, they will be being featured in the blog over the next few days, so keep a look out!

The contest will end at a date to be determined in the future. I look forward to seeing what kinds of things you guys come up with to help.

You don't have to spread the word to be entered, but the more people helping Japan the better, so I'd really appreciate it if you would!

**If you're hosting a contest for Japan, I'd love to link it up, so please let me know! Also, please let me know if you'd like to donate a book to the contest.**

Audrey, Miranda and I donated $. I donated through GlobalGiving and Miranda donated through the Red Cross. I also coached three soccer games this weekend and we had the kids hold a minute of silence for the country of Japan. I don't need a book though, just letting my sis know we care!

I'm poor too, so I give them my prayers. My family and I pray the Rosary every night, and Japan is on our list of intentions. Never has it been known that anyone who has fled to protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been left unaided. She intercedes on our behalf before the throne of God.
Also, the second collection during Mass goes to the Catholic Relief Services in Japan. This is not just a local decision, either.

This is such a cool idea! I might have to borrow it for my blog...

I actually bidded/donated through an auction...so feel free to NOT enter me if you feel that doesn't count (since I already got something for donating). However, I did donate a little over $50. It's a wonderful cause, of course, and what you're doing is excellent as well.

I'm still a student with no income, so I can't really do anything for them except for offering my prayers. I will be donating some money if my school's Leo Club decide to organize a fund-raising event for Japan.

I'm basically perpetually poor, but I hate not to do anything, so there's this thing on Swagbucks (or at least, there was) where you could donate your swagbucks and each sb would count for so many cents, so I donated through that. I also did one of the text donations to the Red Cross, which they just attach to your phone bill. I like that they can do that now, though I've heard it can take longer for the donations to get where they're going, depending on the company.
Also, I am totally going to make some cranes if I can figure it out. I'm going to post about this too, if you still have it going on in May (have to get through FTF first)
